Opening: Saturday december 1st, 20-24 hrs
Until: Sunday December 23rd, Thu - Su, 14-18 hrs

Paul Geelen - The Node Appearance
Inexactly This - Kunstvlaai 2012
Opening: Friday November 23rd
Until: Sunday December 2nd, see www.kunstvlaai.nl
The Node Appearance refers to an intermediate stage from a contemplative and observant role: the point of bifurcation, the emergence of a knob and reflection in the growth process.
In his presentation for P/////AKT at the Kunstvlaai, Paul Geelen shows some works in various stages of realisation. Completed, on going and even brittle.
The structure of the exhibition is built around 'Portal (the Id, Ego and Superego)', an architectural intervention around a state of consciousness.
Sybren de Boer -The Unprecedented / Gala van de Weergalozen The Principle Rules IV Opening: Saturday October 27th, 20-24 hrs
Until: Sunday November 25th, Thu - Su 14-18 hrs
Sybren de Boer often makes space filling installations, creating a parcours by combining and connecting all kinds of every day objects. He is mainly interested in the moment when meaning only just starts to take shape, in the liminal situation before a doodle turns into a drawing, absent mindedness results in a clear train of thought or a random act becomes a consious decision. It is an in between state that has no particular beginning or ending, that actually precedes awareness; allowing things to be quite fluid and ready to become something else.
Marianne Vierø - Zeppelin Bend
Opening: Saturday September 8th, 20-24 hrs
Until: Sunday October 7th, Thu - Su 14-18 hrs
Zeppelin Bend is the name of the knot that, according to myth, was used to tie down zeppelins while docking. Apparently someone would lower a rope down from one of these floating giants and someone else would catch the end and tie it to another bit of rope (hence the word 'bend' which is a kind of knot used to join two ropes).

Esper Postma - Por algo será
The Principle Rules I
Opening: Saturday April 28, 20-24 hrs
Until: Sunday May 27, Thu - Su, 14-18 hrs
Esper Postma poses questions about the idea of objectivity and the way we organise our environment according to rigorous judgement and strict ways of thinking. Which values and meanings are being attributed to elements in our environment? How are these conditioned by the context that they are placed in? This can be a physical context, like architecture, or a conceptual one, in the form of for instance knowledge.

He recently published Where Heaven and Earth Meet: The Spiritual in the Art of Kandinsky, Rothko, Warhol and Kiefer, which will be available in an English translation coming Fall.
Femmy Otten - Yellow Minutes
Where time has lost its relevance III
Opening Saturday January 14th, 20-24 hrs
Until Sunday February 12th, Thu-Su, 14-18 hrs
The work of Femmy Otten thematises the myth as one of the forces of historic images and legends that have continually undergone changes in the course of time, but have never lost the original force witch runs through our physical and emotional consciousness. "I feel like an archaeologist. It's like I'm laying bare the memory structure of the wood in which I work. combining in astonishment the legends of my psychical memory with the dept of the history that is still familiar to us.''
Christian Friedrich - untitled (2011) - Where time has lost its relevance II
Until: Saturday December 24th, Thu-Su 14-18 hrs Christian Friedrich’s films and sculptures relate to heavy themes such as sexuality and violence, which are transformed into staged situations. Underlying this method is an investigation into the workings of perception, as a fiction that is created out of “incoming” images and the mental process of interpretation.
At P/////AKT Friedrich will show a new film which takes these notions to a more methodological level: a severely structured composition that dissects the concept of moving image and analyses its representational character.
Derk Thijs & Chris Brans - Dah osla Dothem
Where time has lost its relevance I
Opening Saturday October 8th, 20-24 hrs
Until Sunday November 6th, Thu-Su 14-18 hrs
Derk Thijs often derives his subject matter from ancient history en is thereby striving towards harmony and universal unity. Over the past few years he has realized large scale installations; environments inspired by notions on humane and sacral spaces. For his project at P/////AKT has collaborated with Chris Brans, who describes his own striving towards universal values -derived from scientific principles as well as the banalities of everyday life- as "a friendly denial of reality".
The exhibition, set in a space-filling installation consisting of 60 tree trunks, is the result of a collaborative preparation period during which both artists allowed eachother to infiltrate in eachother's work:
opening: Su July 31st, 17-20 hrs
Until: Su August 21 st, Thu - Su , 14-18 hrs

“I Want to make a portrait of time. A portrait of a self aware unit of time. It should also be a unit of time people could relate to. A piece of time people share(d). A temporal horizon that brings hope but also despair.“
Maurits Koster’s practice consists of a multi-disciplinary approach towards the establishment of visual culture. He thereby focuses on the role and function of “institutions” and how they have conditioned our way of looking at art. Moreover he researches, by means of himself, the context that constitutes the life and work of The Artist as a constructed identity. There are many ways through which the audience has access to an artist’s oeuvre: exhibitions, reproductions, documentation and books to only mention a few.

Thu - Su, 14 - 18 hrs
Finissage: Su May 15th. The bar is open from 16 - 19 hrs
According to Herman van Ingelgem (Mechelen, BE) products and objects have the ability to commute between one reality and another. Especially those that are generally perceived as banal or in themselves rather uninteresting, may turn out to be surprisingly flexible about their status and meaning.
‘Let’s see how things unfold’ is a preview of works of the exam candidates from the photography department, Fine Art ArtEZ Enschede, better known as AKI.
Jan Bokma - Museum of Art: Audio Tour
Audio design; Maarten Kok
Opening/live event: Saturday February 26th, 20-24 hrs
Until Sunday March 27th, Thu-Su 14-18 hrs
Jan Bokma has been working on his Museum of Art series since 2007. Earlier editions were realized ao at Sign (Groningen), Nest and GEM (The Hague). These Museums are actually installation pieces, consisting of sculptures and architectural elements that are executed in do-it-yourself materials such as building foam, wood and plastic. Rather than seeking affirmation on the status of things and their ideal context, Bokma uses this concept to explore and activate the various processes that constitute a work of art within the art world.
P////AKT is hosting: Kato Six - A Backyard Journey
a collaboration with Agentur
Opening Thursday February 3rd, 20-24 hrs
Until Sunday Feb 6th, Thu-Su 14-18 hrs
A Backyard Journey is a study of contemporary space concepts, investigated from a personal perspective. At first it seems to reflect the psychological point of view of the artist herself, but on second thought it turns out to speak of the general question: how is our psychic architecture constructed? The work has a private starting point but it tries to create a general image of how we actually experience, recollect en (re)create space.
Performance on Friday January 28 at 20.00 hrs and Sunday January 30th at 16 hrs
In Gravity, one mechanism is driven to its ultimate consequence, resulting in a landscape of falling objects: a ‘concert’ with 4 performers, a grand piano and many, many objects. This performance is an attempt to experience nature without inviting the ghost of lost innocence, to see the politics of gravitational laws in different planes, in different moments of history, in different constellations.
Concept / development / performance: Sarah van Lamsweerde, Norberto Llopis Segarra and Kaisu Koski in collaboration with Mari Matre Larsen and Michiel Reynaert
P/////AKT is rounding up the Space is a Word series with a finissage on Sunday January 16th. Space is a Word was the starting point for a new exhibition format which focuses on art as a Mental Space.
During this first episode the participating artists were invited to reflect on the underlying principles of language and architecture. Three consecutive solo exhibitions that connected formed a transition: from Gino Saccone’s intuitive universe to Jean Bernard Koeman’s clear-cut mental architecture and finally Frederik van Simaey’s poetic exercises into the folding and unfolding of space.
Space is a Word Part III: Frederik van Simaey – Hiding in Plain Sight
Until Sunday January 16th, Thu-Su 14-18 hrs
Frederik van Simaey was invited to realise the final exhibition of the Space is a Word series. A worthy candidate in the sense that he literally gives meaning to its subject. “Being literal” may be suggestive of an approach that is too direct, but in this case the suggestion is by no means a disqualification. Van Simaey is an escape artist – even a bit of an alchemist- creating something out of nothing and capable of making things appear and dissapear . The space behind the word (and vice versa).
"For those who are not so familiar with my work, it is about relationships between light, shadow and gestures of turning things inside & out, upside down, front to back. It's about me and the other, about both visible and invisble forces... It speaks fort itself."
Gino Saccone - Jean Bernard Koeman - Frederik van Simaey
Opening Saturday October 30th, 12.00 hrs 20th ISTANBUL ART FAIR can be visited daily from 11:00 - 20:00 hours between October 30th - November 6th and 11:00 - 19:00 hours on November 7th
Space is a Word part II - Jean Bernard Koeman
'DISPLAYS (a Temporary but Willing Suspension of Disbelief)'
Opening Saturday October 23rd
Until Sunday November 21st, Thu-Su 14-18 hrs
For his solo exhibition at P//////AKT Jean Bernard Koeman brings together a selection of new and existing works. As one might expect from the artist’s own words, the exhibition will turn out to be more than the sum of its parts:
“I construct the installations as a parcours for the audience. An associative walk or tour, in which scale, form and meaning are generated simultaneously and on top of each other. The installations represent a “mental architecture”, meaning they are structures or buildings with human or thinking properties. They tell a story, invite to participate, doubt themselves, define or ventilate feelings or thoughts.“
Due to organisational circumstances beyond our control we unfortunately had to decide to withdraw our contribution to GRID2010.
Since both P/////AKT and the participating artists were looking forward to this group presentation we might take a raincheck in the summer of 2011; in our own space and by our own standards.
The artist will talk about his work in general and the process that has lead to the presentation at P/////AKT.
Until Sunday October 3rd, Thu-Su, 14-18 hrs
Gino Saccone is occupied with making sculptures, images and films that explore the basic mechanics of language and how information can be formulated and expressed. The works are the result of both symbolic and intuitive processes that are concerned with the potential for movement and metaphor to engender meaning and inspire a feeling. Through a process of inter-relating different elements Saccone intends to open up potential fictions, cultural references and psychological spaces.
Charlott Markus, Beyond Lines
Opening: Saturday June 5th from 20-24 hrs
Until Sunday July 4th, Thu-Su 14-18 hrs
Charlott Markus’ work is firmly rooted in photography but has recently developed towards site-specific, spatial installations. Her working method thoroughly and intently investigates the well-known, yet allways evasive fine lines between space and surface, subject and object, abstraction and figuration. www.charlottmarkus.com
P/////AKT and Apice for artists present Floris Bovée
Floris Bovée creates a world in which he communicates a romanticized notion of technology and mechanic processes. He investigates the principles of matter, such as force, balance and movement, light sound and electricity. These principles are translated into analogue systems that interact with the characteristics of a given space: minimal interventions which intensify their architectural surroundings and evoke a new experience of space and time.
At the Kunstvlaai he will present a new work which is designed on the specific context: a scale model of the booth, mechanically folding and unfolding itself into a Whitce Cube.
Opening: Thursday May 6th, 17-21 hrs
Open: Friday May 7th, 12-21 hrs, Sa-Su 12-18 hrs

Simon Kentgens - Long Short-Term Memory
Open vanaf zaterdag 28 november
T/m Zondag 20 december, do-zo 14-18 uur www.geesin.nl
