Where our current society  has deemed the principle of direct benefit as its most important value, P/////AKT sees the function of visual art in its ability to conceive a different outlook on contemporary thinking. This specific ability benefits from independence and room for innovation.
 

P/////AKT provides a platform for exceptional and developing talent. Artists that dare to take an independent position, who distinguish themselves through their unique and authentic language and who are capable of creating a different mental space.
 

The focus therefore lies in organizing and facilitating large scale solo presentations through which artists are stimulated to work out  new developments and the audience has the opportunity to gain insight in the thinking space of those artists.

Apart from the public exhibition space the building offers ten studios for creative entrepreneurs. The artistic direction is formed by Rob van de Werdt (visual artist) and Nienke Vijlbrief (art historian). Gieneke Pieterse (architect) is the business director. Since its foundation in 2003 P/////AKT is based at the Zeeburgerpad in Amsterdam Oost.
