Both places feature work from eight young artists who construct their personal language mainly on photography and audiovisual media. The simultaneous shows complement each other, conforming a rather monumental and industrial atmosphere in P////AKT while Lauriergracht 160 remains more intimate. What are the beliefs and hopes of young creators before they enter the official art world? What is the direction of their thoughts? This exhibition reveals their visual process before they are confronted with the expectations of the art market. The show also introduces the personal projects of the graduates before their final show in July.

Nora van den Berg
“In my work I’m exploring the border between photography and film, therefore the tension between movement, stagnation, present and absent. Which provide my study of how to clarify different intensities of time and time experience.”

Henriette Everhard
"My focus lies on the dynamics between two people or more, and how they relate to each other, specifically family. My own family situation plays an important role, in both social and conceptual aspects. The main subject for my current project is my elderly fathers age."

Lon Doekes
"I'm exploring the relationship between image and sound. In my installation I'm creating a new sound experience by amplifying the sound with images. In a similar work, consisting of video's, I'm searching for the balance between image and sound."

Florian Rosier
"In my work I'm trying to blur the borders of reality and imagination. What the camera captured gets transformed into an entirely new image, where some parts remain or are being multiplied, whereas others are canceled out or abstracted into something new."

Marnix van den Berg
"In this moment I write about small things which I hear and see around me in the same moment. I have the idea to connect that with my photos. Writing text and making photos is like a brother and a sister who lives on two different continents but didn’t met each other yet.”

Francisco J. Martínez:
"My work wants to explore the way we deal with information. The constant fluency of massive data doesn't allow us to digest its actual nature and absurdity. Art is the place to question what we are told as individuals. I try to offer a different point of view about us, humans, by challenging our usual understanding of the surrounding."

Sanne Heusinkveld
“At the beginning of the 19th century hysteria was seen as a psychological illness, nowadays we call it lust. In my work I’m exploring the hypnotizing movements of the body.”

Anna Krieps
“Memories are the window to the soul. I photograph my family like a visual diary and a fairy tail of childhood imagination. A transition of life that is already dead because it lies in the past but becomes alive on opaque paper and is immortal.”
